What is a library reading program?

A reading program is an effective and inspiring reading experience for all ages! Our programs feature a theme and reading goals where each participants can earn free books!

When are APL’s reading programs?

We run three reading programs each year.

  • Winter Reading – February 1-28
  • Summer Reading – June 1 – July 31
  • Fall Reading – October 1-31
Is registration required?

Yes, registration is required for each reading program. Registration begins two weeks prior to the start of each program. To register, log into your Beanstack account or call or visit the Main Library or Lapel Branch.

How do I participate?

We use Beanstack to track all reading information for our reading programs. You can access Beanstack here or download the Beanstack app to track your reading time. Our library staff is also happy to log time for you. You are welcome to visit or call the Main Library or Lapel Branch to have your reading time logged. What do I get for participating?

Each week that you log 60 minutes of reading time, earns you a free book of your choosing! We select and purchase a variety of current, popular, and diverse titles for you to earn during our reading programs. These books are purchased by donated funds from our Friends of the Library group and are separate from the books purchased for our collections in the library.
