Inside the Library
Anderson Public Library Railroad Club
The Anderson Model Railroad Club meets every Thursday evening, between 6pm and 8pm on the third floor of Anderson Public Library.
They also meet on some Saturdays (days and times vary). During these times, children who bring their parent(s) or caregiver(s) with them are welcome to go behind the scenes and see the trains up close.
The Anderson Model Railroad Club has been around for many years. They originally met in the basement of a former member, then moved to the third floor of the library around 1988. They welcome new members. No experience is required, and they are in the process of revamping several projects, so there will be plenty for members to do.
Fire Safety House
The Fire Safety House, located on the third floor of Anderson Public Library, is an interactive teaching tool designed to help educate children about the dangers of fire, fire prevention, and the safety precautions to take if a fire breaks out. The Fire Safety House features a classroom on the ground floor and a large bedroom upstairs decorated to look like a child’s room. Since the house was dedicated in 1994, thousands of children have visited and learned about fire safety and prevention.
