Art Collection Policy

A permanent collection of fine art shall be purchased and acquired as funds permit on the basis of the following criteria:

 

All art must be the work of artists who meet acceptable professional standards.

 

All art must be original work hand-signed by the artist.

 

All art must have recognized artistic merit and must be suitable for public display.

 

All art must be approved by the Library Board of Trustees or representatives designated by the Trustees.

 

All monies contributed or accumulated for the art collection shall be monitored and dispersed upon approval of the Board of Trustees.

 

All art acquired for the library through private contributions or library funds shall belong to the library and cannot be removed from the permanent collection without the approval of the Library Board of Trustees.

 

The library will only accept donated works of art approved by the professional counseling of an art consultant retained by the Library Board of Trustees (this might also be the Friends of the Library).

 

Any object considered for purchase must be in good or excellent condition or reparable within a reasonable limit.

 

There must be adequate proof of authenticity and evidence that the proposed purchase price is of fair market value.

 

Anderson Public Library will only deal with reputable sources.

 

All donations are offered as unconditional gifts.
