Library customers can check out one of our iPads for use within the Main Library. The iPads are preloaded with multiple apps (including great library apps like Flipster, Freegal, and hoopla). Browse the Internet, read books, peruse magazines, listen to music, play games, and do a variety of other things!
Each iPad case has a basic information sheet to help you get started, and there’s no need to worry about security – every time an iPad is returned, we restore it to its original settings, completely erasing anything added while the iPad was checked out.
You must be 18 years of age or older and must present a valid driver’s license or State issued photo ID and an APL card without fees or overdue items to check out an iPad. (Customers with short-term library cards are not eligible to check out mobile devices.) Please read the complete Mobile Device Borrowing Policy (PDF).
iPads check out for 4 hours and may be renewed once for an additional 2 hours. To renew an iPad you must bring the iPad and all of its accessories to the Circulation desk before the initial 4-hour loan period ends. iPad late fees are $1.00 per half hour.
If you've borrowed one of the library's iPads, please take a moment to complete a short survey about your experience.
Library cardholders can check out a laptop for a 4-hour loan period for use within the library. The laptops run Windows 7 and have Microsoft Office applications installed for writing letters, creating spreadsheets or a resume, or making a slideshow. Connect to the Internet and you can access the library’s digital collections—including eBooks, magazines, music, and audiobooks.
There’s no need to worry about any of your personal information being stored on the laptop – every time the laptop is shut down or restarted, the installed security software will delete any information added or changed by the user.
