This index is the product of a cooperative effort on the part of many people over several years. Three men--Ray Davis, Charles Bridges and Mike Pitts--did the actual newspaper scanning and compiled the original indexes, half of which were done manually and half of which were done in machine readable form. A corps of volunteers headed by Keith Burris and Margaret Karr completed the massive data entry project.

Here you will find a listing of the obituaries which appeared in
the ANDERSON DAILY BULLETIN from 1921 to 1967.  The date which is
given is the date the obituary appeared in the newspaper and not
necessarily the date of death.

To use this index, enter the name you are searching and click on
Submit Query.  The system will provide you with a list of
matches. There will be occasional duplicates when an obituary
was published more than once.

If you are having trouble finding the name you are seeking, try
these hints:

--A married woman might be listed as Mrs. John Smith instead of
Mary Smith if that was the text used by the newspaper.  Try
searching Mrs. Smith as well.

--Titles like Dr., Rev., Sgt., etc., will sometimes be part of a
name listing.  If you know your subject was a doctor, trying
searching for him as Dr. Smith.

--A baby's obituary may be listed as Infant Smith rather than
Billy Smith.  Try both.

If you find a name you wish to pursue further, please email the
Indiana Room staff or the Local History and Genealogy staff.  We have
microfilmed copies of the newspaper and we will be glad to
provide you with copies of the obituaries you need. NOTE: Please limit your
requests to no more than ten (10) obituaries at a time and no more than
twenty (20) obituaries per month.
